Whiteheads on Nose: inside, Removal Cream, Products, Keep Coming Back, under Skin, Treatment

Whiteheads are types of acne that form when dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria become trapped in your pores. These comedones are usually disturbing especially for those people who value their beauty so much. Understanding the cause of whiteheads can help you know what to do to prevent future breakouts. However there are measures you can take to treat this conditions just at home or by over the counter medication.

Whiteheads on Nose

Whiteheads will develop from clogged pores. One cause of blocked pores is hormonal changes. Certain life stages can increase the amount of sebum, or oil, your pores produce. The increased oil production causes clogged pores and whiteheads. People who are in some stages like puberty; menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause are at a hirer risk of developing whiteheads on nose. We will look into these in details.
How Common Are Whiteheads?
These spots can develop anywhere on your body including the nose, chin, and forehead which are collectively known as the T-zone. The oily parts of your face are the most prone to acne. However, you may also develop whiteheads on your chest, back, shoulders, and arms. Acne can affect any one regardless of the gender and age.

Whiteheads on Nose Causes

As we have said above, whiteheads can appear at any stage of life, and they tend to be associated more with puberty, menopause, pregnancy and menstruation. The underlying causes of this condition may include the following:

  1. Hormonal changes

Hormonal changes in the body are common during puberty, menopause, during pregnancy and during menstruation. These conditions can trigger higher production of sebum in your pores which often culminate in clogged pores. At the end they are seen as whiteheads in the places they form.

  1. Certain medications

People who are taking some medications that have an impact on hormones can as well develop whiteheads on their noses. For example, those who take oral birth control pills may end up with this problem at some point.

  1. Genetics

You may be naturally predisposed to acne and whiteheads due to your genetic makeup. If you are one of these people, you tend to develop whiteheads very easily. This condition usually runs down in the families.

  1. Certain cosmetics

If you are using heavy cosmetic products especially creams with petrolatum, they could also be to blame for your whitehead on nose. This is because the creams block pores when used encouraging dead skin cells and oil to remain inside.

Whiteheads on Nose Keep Coming Back

At some point you may find yourself developing whiteheads that keep coming back after they go away for some time. Small whiteheads on your nose may keep coming back every time you have your periods. The hormonal changes that occur during menstrual periods cause a spike in sebum production from your pores, increasing the chances for their clogging and ultimately the formation of whiteheads.
Young adults who are in pubic stage are also prone to these kinds of comedones that come and go. While whiteheads during menstrual periods tend to develop on the nose, chin and forehead because of their oily nature, they can as well develop on any other area of the body where clogging of pores occurs. That may include shoulders, chest, arms, back etc.

Whiteheads inside Nose

A number of people often perceive whiteheads in nose as a manifestation of a skin condition called folliculitis. As the name suggests, folliculitis is an irritation or infection of hair follicles. Among the factor responsible for this are poor trimming of nose hairs, bacterial imbalance due to inappropriate use of antibiotics, nose picking, and environmental pollutants e.g. chemicals, dust, etc.
The nose provides a perfect breeding ground for bacteria to thrive and as such, whiteheads on nose should not be ignored. Unfortunately, the natural shape of the nose makes it tricky to manage the situation and doesn’t leave much in the way of options as compared to whitehead that occur on the surface of the nose.
There are some of the things you have to observe in order to get rid of whiteheads that form inside your nose:

  • Don’t pick on them: While you may get the urge pick your nose, you should avoid that at all cost as it might lead to destruction of the delicate nerve endings and irritate the nasal lining. It can also spreading of the infection.
  • Apply a warm compress, that is, pat the nose gently with a cotton wool soaked in warm water two times daily.
  • If taking antibiotics, talk to your doctor about it for appropriate advice. Never stop using antibiotics halfway unless under instructed to do so by your doctor.

Rash under Breast Causes: Itchy, Red, Heat, Cancer, Treatment

Another name for rash under breast is intertrigo. This condition usually occurs when the skin folds rub together causing friction and trapping moisture. You may see this condition as a red or reddish-brown rash, raw, itchy or weeping skin with or without a smell and cracked skin.
Intertrigo can form anywhere on the body where skin rubs against each other, for example, between the thighs, on the underside of the belly or the armpits. A warm moist environment encourages infection by yeast, fungus or bacteria.

In most cases, rashes that develop under your breasts have an underlying cause from fungus infection. It does not imply an infection of the deeper breast tissue. Fungal skin infections are common and the most affected sites are the feet and groin although skin anywhere on the body can be affected.
The area under the breast is particularly prone to rash from fungal infections in women for a number of reasons that makes this region ideal for fungi to thrive.

How to identify rash under your breast:

  1. Touch your breast

Women are encouraged to examine their breast twice every month to check there are changes by running their hand over their breast to check any presence of growth of tumor. They should make a routine especially before they experience menstruation cycle while those who have reached menopause should identify an appropriate time to do so.

  1. Nipple discharge

If a lady experiences unusual discharge either clear or bloody is encouraged to see a doctor since these are symptoms of a rash under breast from cancer.

  1. Changes in the size and shape of the breast

If the breast undergoes changes in size or shape at different times of the month apart from during menstruation period, it is a clear symptom of breast cancer and an individual is therefore required to seek for medication.

  1. Inverted nipple

In case the nipple changes in its appearance from its normal state, a lady should not ignore this but instead visit a doctor to check on this.

  1. Peeling, scaling, or flaking skin

Don’t ignore in case you notice shedding of skin around the breast or on the nipple forming a red spot on breast instead visit a specialist to conduct tests for cancer and any other diseases.

  1. Skin rash on the breasts

This condition in most cases is not associated with breast cancer but in case it is inflammatory then making the breast swollen, warm and red in appearance.

  1. Pitting breast skin

In case there is appearance of dimples on breast skin, which then becomes orange in appearance by peeling due to inflammation thus it is a clear indication to seek for medication.

What Causes Rash under Breast

Rash that develop under the breast usually can be as a result of many issues that take advantage of the moist area on your breast. However, the causes of this rash can be categorized into four groups including: infections, allergies, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.

  1. Infections

This is the leading cause of the rash under your breast. The warm, moist skin under breasts is an ideal breeding ground for bacterial, fungal, and yeast infections.

  • Candidiasis

This is a condition resulting from yeast, or fungi, that cause vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush infections, and diaper rash. These fungal infections are often seen in babies, people with illnesses that affect their immune system, and in people who are taking antibiotics. This yeast is said to be naturally appearing in our bodies but in harmless state. It only causes infection when there are chances of compromised immune system or presence of necessary conditions to provoke it.
On your breasts, candida yeast thrives in the moist, warm environment like under the breasts mostly for breast feeding mothers. They cause a rash under breast that often develops uncomfortable blisters and small cracks. Like many other rashes, candidiasis can be very itchy.

  • Ringworm

Ringworm condition does not originate from worms. It is just one of several types of fungal infections called tinea. Fungi are microscopic, single-cell organisms that are in the air, soil, water, animals, and people. The types of fungi that cause ringworm and related skin conditions such as athlete’s foot and jock itch are parasites that feed on dead keratin, the protein that makes up your skin, nails, and hair. Ringworm appears as round, red patches of skin with a distinctive red ring.
Ringworm is highly contagious and often spreads via shared towels, sheets, and showers. You can even get it from your pets.

  • Mastitis

This is an infection of the breast that is common to women who are breastfeeding, although women who aren’t breastfeeding can get it as well. Small cracks in the nipple can be an entry point for bacteria. Clogged milk ducts can also become infected. If it is untreated, it can lead to the formation of painful, pus-filled abscesses in your breast, so it’s important to contact your doctor.

  1. Allergies

A rash under your breasts can be an allergic response to a range of substances, including: foods, medications, insect stings, pollen and plants. This can be seen as hives which are red or, more rarely, skin-colored bumps that can itch violently. If you press on hives, they will blanch, turning white. Hives can occur on any part of your body.
Hives are usually treated with antihistamines. These drugs block histamines, the natural chemical in your skin that causes the hives. You may also use cold compresses and topical preparations such as cortisone creams or calamine lotion.

  1. Autoimmune disorders

There are a few different autoimmune disorders that may cause a rash under your breast. Autoimmune disorders are chronic conditions that cannot be cured, but you can treat the symptoms.

  • Eczema

Patches of inflamed red or reddish-gray skin that itch severely are signs of eczema, or atopic dermatitis. Eczema can develop small, fluid-filled bumps that ooze and crust over. Over time, your skin can dry out and be prone to irritation and itching before it flares up again.
Eczema can be found anywhere on your body in form of a rash. There’s no cure for eczema. It can be controlled by keeping your skin moisturized with fragrance-free moisturizers and by using cortisone creams or gels to control the itching. Eczema symptoms may be made worse by:

  • harsh soaps and detergents
  • wool
  • sweat
  • stress
  • Inverse psoriasis

This is a less common form of psoriasis, a chronic disease of the immune system. It’s characterized by smooth, rash under breast or in skin in the folds of the body. The condition is often seen under the breasts, the armpits, and the groin area. Inverse psoriasis doesn’t usually have the flaky skin plaques associated with other types of psoriasis.

  • Hyperhidrosis

On average, a person has between two and four million sweat glands and sweats up to a quart of fluid per day. Hyperhidrosis is a condition in which your body’s sweat glands produce more sweat than is needed to cool the body. All that perspiration is a welcome mat for germs that cause infections. The cause of hyperhidrosis is unknown, but it tends to run in families.
Antiperspirants may be used under the breasts. In fact, there are also body antiperspirants made for this purpose and some are even available in powder form. If they don’t do the job, your doctor may prescribe a more powerful antiperspirant. Botox injections and the removal of sweat glands via laser or traditional surgery are options for severe cases.

  • Hailey-Hailey disease

Although I have never heard of it before, research has revealed this is a rare inherited disorder. It is characterized by a persistent blistering rash under breasts. Can also be found:

  • on the neck
  • between the buttocks
  • in the arm pits and groin

The rash tends to come and go spontaneously. Over time, the skin can become tough and dry, and may develop painful cracks.
Hailey-Hailey disease is often treated with corticosteroid cream or ointment, and antibiotics. More stubborn cases may be treated with oral corticosteroids or antibiotics, photodynamic light therapy, or laser therapy. If you have Hailey-Hailey disease, your doctor will advise you to avoid situations that make you sweat, such as not wearing heavy clothing that doesn’t breathe and not exerting yourself too much in hot weather.

  1. Cancer

You can as well develop a rash on your breast nipple, under the breast or on top of the breast from inflammatory cancer. Cancer of the breast is normally dangerous as it may lead you to lose your entire breast. However it is not that common to have it but in case your rash appears with symptoms that are not common, you should see your doctor for examination.

Reasons for an Itchy Rash under Breast

Itchy rash under your breast is more as a result of bacterial and fungal infections. Warm, moist areas are more prone to these skin rashes. If you have a persistent rash under the breasts, see your doctor. Keeping skin clean and dry, looking out for possible allergic triggers, and seeing a dermatologist when necessary can prevent rashes from coming back.

  1. Fungal Infections

These are a common cause of an itchy rash under the breast. As we discussed above, a type of yeast known as Candida is the most frequent offender. Candida-related skin rashes are typically red, but white, scaly areas may form as well. Uncontrolled diabetes, antibiotic use, chronic steroid use, obesity and HIV are risk factors for Candida skin infections. Keeping the area dry by sprinkling antifungal powder, under the breasts.

  1. Bacterial Infection

Itchy rashes under the breast can be caused by bacteria, especially Staphylococcus and Streptococcus bacteria. As with Candida infections, diabetes and immune system disorders are risk factors. However, minor skin trauma can allow bacteria to invade the skin and cause an infection in someone without risk factors. Bacterial skin rashes are usually bright red may be slightly raised and are often warm to the touch.

  1. Allergic Dermatitis

Skin allergies as well are results of itchy rashes under the breast. A skin rash due to an allergy is known as allergic dermatitis. Allergic dermatitis is commonly red and very itchy. People with a history of asthma, seasonal allergies or eczema, dry, flaky, inflamed skin on other parts of the body are at increased risk for allergic dermatitis. Allergic triggers vary from person to person, but laundry detergents, perfumes and lotions are often to blame.

What does Red Rash on Breast not Itchy mean

As well said above, rash under breast usually develops when the lower breast rests against the skin below. The rash formed under the breasts can either be so itchy or with no itch according to what caused it. Trapped moisture, perspiration and friction between the skin of the breast and chest wall causes an inflammatory rash called intertrigo. The affected skin can become secondarily infected with yeast, bacteria, or both.
To keep the area dry during the day, especially in hot weather, you might try placing a piece of soft, absorbent fabric below each breast. Some products are available over the counter that can be used for this purpose, such as ABD pads and silver-infused fabric. Avoid paper products — such as paper towels, or facial or toilet tissue — which can further irritate the inflamed skin. Fabric or pads used to absorb perspiration must be changed when they become moist.

Heat Rash on Breast

Heat rash, properly called miliaria, occurs when your sweat glands become blocked and sweat can’t be excreted through the pores. Instead, the sweat pools under your skin, causing inflammation and a rash. Heat rash under breast may be so painful especially if infection at the area has taken advantage.
The best treatment is to cool off. Heat rash happens mainly when you sweat more than normal because of heat and humidity. Heat rash usually clears up without treatment.

Is a Rash on the Breast a Sign of Cancer

Inflammatory breast cancer is a very rare form of rapidly spreading cancer. Symptoms include:

  • Pink or red skin discoloration
  • pitted skin often described as looking like an orange peel
  • Pimple-like rash
  • An inverted nipple that points inward rather than outward

Although this type of breast cancer is rare, it’s important to see your doctor promptly if you have these symptoms. A combination of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy is the standard treatment for inflammatory breast cancer.

Random breast pain is a common sign of the stage before true menopause sets in, a phase that most women enter into between the ages of 45 and 55.
However you should not be worried that you are somehow going into early menopause if your breasts seem to suddenly be aching at all different points of the month. Premature menopause is rare, and the odds that you have it, especially absent any of the other symptoms like periods or common causes like ovary removal are usually low.

  1. Early signs of pregnancy

A hormone called Progesterone will cause breast soreness during your menstrual cycle. The same hormone also jumps in production in the early days of a pregnancy. This is the reason why for numerous women when breats feel sore, it is a sign of pregnancy. In case this information makes you scared, take comfort in the fact that many mothers say that there are differences between pregnancy breast pain and period breast pain. The pregnancy one is often more extreme, lasts for a longer amount of time, and is usually accompanied by other early pregnancy symptoms, like nausea.

  1. You have a wrong bra size

Your breasts feel sore maybe because your bra size is wrong, and this is more severe if you wore a tighter bra than your size should be, or by not providing adequate support to the breast throughout the day. This, however, can easily be solved by getting a bra fitting at your local bra-specialty shop, department-store lingerie section, or other place where specially trained women can take measurement of your bra size, so that you get the right one to avoid hearting yourself.

  1. You’re over-caffeinated

It is also believed that your breasts feel sore sometime because of consuming too much caffeine, especially in women with fibrocystic breasts, which are often more vulnerable to breast pain. Though no formal laboratory studies have found caffeine to have an impact on breast sensitivity, some women find that cutting caffeine helps with random aches and pains in their chesticles.

  1. A pool of a muscle

Excessive exercise may cause pain or soreness, especially in women with large breasts. Reducing exercise that causes stress here may be helpful. If it cannot be avoided, such as for athletes or those who work in active environments, sports bras may take undue stress from the body.
Physical activities that engage the pectorals like playing rugby and shoveling snow can strain chest muscles, like the pectoralis major. These strains, which can feel like it’s emanating from inside the breast, is actually in the muscle below the breast tissue, and while it’s a fairly rare injury, it can require surgery, so please, see a doctor if you think you may have sprained your boob.

  1. You’re just not that into someone

It is believed that breasts have the added bonus of generally coming into play sooner in a sexual encounter than our vaginas — so if your breasts feel weird, or just not engorged or engaged while you’re making out with someone, it can be a helpful sign that you need to take things slower, or that you’re less into this encounter than you thought.

  1. Water Retention

Water retention due to salts, inactivity or medical symptoms may cause breasts to become heavier. If you determine that your diet is rich in salt, then it may be advantageous to reduce your intake. Increased exercise may also reduce water retention. As exercise – as discussed later – may be a cause of breast pain, it is important to follow an appropriate course of action.

  1. Animal Fats

Studies have shown that animal fat may be attributed to soreness in breasts. It is unclear whether the fats themselves are the culprit or if the animal hormones are the cause. Since potentially debilitating breast pain can have such an influence on your life, it may be wise to take a second look at meat consumption.

  1. Dairy Products

Like animal fats, the reasons for the link between breast pain and dairy are not yet determined. Because of common agricultural practices, dairy animals may be supplemented with extra hormones to increase production. While dairy and dairy fats may be the cause of increased breast pains, it is also possible that these hormones and chemicals may be culpable. Reduce dairy consumption if you find that you are consuming it on a daily basis or in excess before you experience sore breasts.

  1. Birth Control and Hormone Therapy

While beneficial for reducing the chances of pregnancy, birth control may have a strong impact on your body’s natural hormone production. Additionally, hormone therapy may be influential in the negative side effects of pain and displeasure. Speak with your medical provider about any concerns you may have regarding side effects.

  1. Stress

Stress can cause many problems people at all times in their life. That soreness could just be one of the reason for your stress. You may find that stress may be a catalyst for these sensations, so it is wise to reduce stress on your body and in your life when you notice bodily pain.

Why you get Sore Breast before Period

As we have discussed above, female who have attained a menstruating age are likely to have their reproductive areas feel  feel sore a day or two before they get their periods. All this pain is caused by normal changes that take place in your hormonal balance. It is usually all due to hormonal fluxes in the menstrual cycle. Estrogen reaches a peak around the middle of your cycle, and progesterone reaches its peak the following week.
When it turns out that both are at very high levels during the middle of your cycle, you may start experiencing soreness in your breasts. Your breasts are particularly affected because they have estrogen and progesterone receptors, so they are especially picked on in that way.

Can you get Sore Breasts after Period?

Apart from just before periods, it is also possible for soreness and tenderness during and after the menstrual cycle. This is not an indication of pregnancy, but rather a potential indication of symptoms that may be caused by diet, hormones, stress or other causes. There are numerous things that can cause you to have breast feel sore and many of them we have talked about them above.
Pain is often incorrectly self- diagnosed as a more serious problem. However, as sore breasts and other pains can range from mild to severe and acute to chronic, it may be beneficial to speak with a medical professional. Breast pain during pregnancy, lactation and weaning are not unusual and therefore not associated with mastalgia. Both cyclical and non-cyclical mastalgia may be present, with cyclical mastalgia being the most common occurrence.
To just touch on examples, vasodilators, chemicals that cause the dilation of blood vessels, may cause stretching, distention and stress. Because of this influence, pain and other unpleasant sensations maybe felt. If you find that you are excessively using these drugs or chemicals, then it may be beneficial for your health to reduce consumption.

Is Sore Breasts a Sign of Menopause?

Sore breasts can be as well as a result of menopause as we said above on causes, along with other symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal dryness. When you enter menopause, your monthly menstrual periods stop. This is because your body is no longer producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone.
Menopause is not usually just a stopping point but it is usually a gradual process that usually takes between four to eight years. This gradual period that will result up to menopause is called perimenopause. It can be realized when the periods starts becoming irregular. Perimenopause usually begins when you’re in your 40s.
You are generally considered to be in menopause after you haven’t had a period in a full year. During this time, you may experience a range of symptoms, from hot flashes to vaginal dryness and sore breasts.

Is Breast tenderness and Sore a Sign Pregnancy

Sensitive, sore and tingling breasts are one of the earliest signs that you’re pregnant. You may have noticed this tenderness from about three weeks or four weeks of your pregnancy, before you even did a pregnancy test.
During this time your breasts may become so tender that even your clothes brushing against them feels unbearable. You may also not like having your breasts touched. This will pass, and the soreness is likely to lessen after your first trimester.
When you get to your second trimester, your surging hormone levels will settle down. This won’t necessarily spell the end of sore breasts altogether, though. Tenderness may still happen now and then throughout your pregnancy.
Why breasts feel sore during pregnancy

  • As your body gears up to support your growing baby, you produce more of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone. A similar hormone surge happens to you before a period, so this tenderness is probably an exaggerated version of how your breasts feel then.
  • Along with the effects of a hormone surge, your breasts are likely to be getting bigger. The fat layer in them thickens, milk glands multiply, and blood flow increases. As uncomfortable as it may feel, these changes are preparing your breasts for the important role of feeding your baby.
  • Your breasts may grow rapidly in early pregnancy, or they may grow gradually as your pregnancy progresses. Or you may not even notice much difference in the size of your breasts until the end of your pregnancy. When it does happen, the change in size can be quite dramatic, particularly if this is your first pregnancy. You will probably go up a couple of cup sizes by the time you have your baby. Don’t worry if this hasn’t happened by the end of pregnancy, as your breasts may expand more once your baby has arrived.

Can you have Sore Breasts and not Pregnant?

We have seen that your breasts feel sore when you are pregnant. However you may have this feeling as well when you are not pregnant. There are some other many reasons that we have discussed in this contexts that will leave you with soreness while you are not pregnant. Many women experience this symptom just prior to the onset of menstruation. Depending on the woman, it may feel like soreness, stabbing pain, heaviness or burning pain. Typically, women experience sore breasts in their upper breast area from their armpits across the chest.
A major reason for breast pain is menstruation and changes in hormonal levels. If the pain is severe or chronic, it could be a sign of something worse.  Since sore breasts can be a sign of breast cancer, it is worth it to go to a doctor and get professionally checked out to be on the safe side.

How to Treat Sore Breast

There are many treatments from many cultures to relieve pain in the breasts. While it is acceptable to follow folk remedies, it is always favorable to make proper changes. Dietary changes, either eliminating negative foods or adding beneficial foods, will likely take some monitoring to determine its benefits. Exercise may also be a cause or help in regards to these pains. Medical needs may require an appointment or discussion with a doctor.
Home remedies

  1. Ice Pack

The cold temperature will numb the tender area as well as reduce swelling and pain. Place a few ice cubes in a plastic bag, and wrap it with a washcloth and apply this ice pack to each of your breasts for about 10 minutes. You can also use a warm compress, or alternating warm and cold compresses to reduce the swelling and tenderness.

  1. Self-Massage

When you try a self –massage, it will help reduce inflammation as well as improve blood circulation. This will help maintain healthy breast tissues and more nutrients will reach the breasts to prevent pain and tenderness. When you are in the shower, soap your breasts and then gently massage them for a few minutes from the center of your chest out to your armpits. If breastfeeding, do not apply soap to the nipples.

  1. Evening Primrose Oil

One of the best treatments for breast pain is evening primrose oil. This oil contains the active ingredient gamolenic acid (GLA), a kind of fatty acid that helps the body respond well to hormonal changes. This in turn eases breast tenderness and pain. Apply evening primrose oil externally on your breasts and massage gently for a few minutes.

  1. Chaste berry

The herb chaste berry can also be used to treat cyclical mastalgia and other symptoms. This herb has a positive effect on the pituitary gland to suppress the release of prolactin, a hormone responsible for PMS symptoms, including tender and painful breasts.
The typical dose of dry chaste berry extract is 20 mg, 1 to 3 times a day. You can also take chaste berry as a liquid extract. Add 40 drops to a glass of water and drink it once in the morning.

  1. Castor Oil

Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that greatly help relieve from feeling sore. It also increases circulation, so that nutrients reach the cells, and waste products and inflammatory factors are removed from the body.

  • Mix 1 tablespoon of castor oil with 2 tablespoons of any lighter oil, such as olive oil.
  • Use it to massage all over your breasts.
  • Follow this remedy daily in the week prior to your period.
  1. Dandelion

According to naturopathy, dandelion can help deal with tenderness and pain in breasts. It is a natural diuretic and contains lots of potassium that helps flush extra fluids out of the body and prevents water retention. This in turn reduces breast pain.
Simmer 1 teaspoon of dried dandelion root in a cup of water for 15 minutes. Strain and add a little honey. Drink up to 3 cups of this herbal tea a day.

  1. Fennel

It helps re-balance female hormones and prevents water retention. It also prevents the buildup of toxins in the body.
Add 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds to a cup of hot water, cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain, and drink this tea a few times daily.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

This is helpful in dealing with breast pain. It can help remove toxins from the body, reduce water retention and regulate hormones. This in turn helps reduce breast pain and tenderness. You just need to add 1 to 2 teaspoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water. Add a little honey and mix well and drink this solution twice daily.

  1. Magnesium

It is an important daily nutrient that can help alleviate breast issues like tenderness and pain during menstruation. Magnesium helps reduce fluid retention, which reduces pain and swelling in the breasts. Eat foods rich in magnesium like dark leafy greens, nuts, seeds, soybeans, avocados, bananas and dark chocolate. You can also take magnesium supplements 2 weeks before your menstrual cycle to prevent breast to feel sore as well as other premenstrual symptoms. For proper dosage, consult your doctor.

Coughing at Night Only

You may as well find yourself just a dry cough at night only and not during the day.  There are a number of reasons why cough symptoms get worse at night, or why you will only cough at night and during the day you are okay. Let us go through some of these reasons:

  1. Gravity

A message from research findings states that the biggest reason why people cough more at night is because of gravity. The researchers say that, when we lie down, the gastroesophageal reflex kicks in because mucus automatically begins to pool. However, they provide solution by saying the best way to counteract this gravitational pull is elevation. You will have to sleep with a pillow propping you up a little bit, as it will help keep the mucus from collecting in the back of the throat.

  1. A dry, indoor environment

While in your closed house at night, dry air can aggravate an already irritated nose and throat, making your nighttime cough worse. A humidifier can be used to put moisture back into the air and make it easier to breathe, but be sure to take proper care of the unit. Some experts warn that humidifiers are not safe if water put in it is not sterile. This will encourage the risk of cycling the germs back into air or breeding other diseases. To ensure you use a humidifier safely, be sure to follow all the directions that it comes with carefully.

  1. Clearing congestion

You should be aware that when you have a dry cough at night, this is actually important in helping you get well. The coughing reflex helps keep your throat and airways clear. As annoying as it may be, that persistent cough is breaking up mucus and helping your body get well.

How to manage dry cough at night only

As it is clearly known that most coughs associated with colds and flu are beneficial for clearing congestion from your lungs and airways, however, sometimes you can get a dry, hacking cough with a lot of discomfort.  A dry cough that appears at night can make your airways, throat, and chest sore and keep you from getting much-needed rest. In case of this problem do the following:

  • Try your best to drink a lot of fluids in the evening before you go to bed as they will help thin the mucus in your throat and make it easier to cough up.
  • When you want to go for bed, suck on a cough drop or hard candy to soothe your throat and decrease the urge to cough.
  • You can collect some best medicine formulated specifically for a dry cough from your pharmacist.
  • If the cough lasts for more than 7 to 10 days you should run to your doctor for examination. Also, if your cough persists with nasal symptoms that improve but then get worse, your doctor should examine you for sinusitis. In that case, an antibiotic may be prescribed.
  • A cough lasting longer than a week or two could be the result of another health condition, such as bronchitis, chronic sinusitis, reflux, asthma, or pneumonia, so getting a doctor’s input is crucial.

Am very sure if your case is not much worse (like TB), these tips will help you to get some quality rest. However, while coughing helps you get better from your problem, it is important to know what could have caused it. If the case is not resolving too soon, just go and be diagnosed by your doctor.

Dry Cough at Night Causes

This dry cough is usually associated with a tickly cough and can be caused by viral infections or allergies as we stated above. As research reveals, unlike a chesty cough, a dry cough does not produce any mucus and is therefore termed as ‘non-productive.’
It is known that dry cough is commonly caused by cold and flu viruses. It can also be triggered by atmospheric pollutants irritating your throat. In most of these situations, dry coughs occur because the back of your throat becomes irritated or inflamed, but may also arise from deeper in the chest.
Any cough can be a nuisance and this is particularly so if sleep is disturbed. A vicious cycle can develop – if one is tired, recovery from any infection or illness can take longer. The following are causes:

  1. Cold and flu

This is a condition caused by viral infection. These coughs may occur at the start of the illness or more likely, appear towards the middle or the end of the infection, and may linger long after other symptoms have disappeared

  1. Allergic reactions

This is also one of the most common causes of dry constant cough that night. Hay fever is allergy to grass and tree pollen, which causes irritation to the eyes and nose and when the throat is affected, a cough results. Sensitivity to other particles such as animal fur, known as allergic rhinitis, can also lead to the same symptom
Moreover, air pollutants can irritate the back of the throat causing a cough. This is the situation seen when non-smokers enter a smoky room

  1. Acid reflux

Research shows that your cough can be as well as a result of acid reflux. Here, this happen when the acidic contents of the stomach travels upwards to the back of the throat. Then little amounts of acid may enter the upper respiratory tract, causing inflammation and dry cough at night. This is more likely to happen when one is lying down flat. Acid reflux is a prominent element of GORD or GERD (Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease).

  1. Asthma

This is a chronic disease of the bronchioles and which is likely to attack young people. These small tubes transport air into the depths of the lungs and can become inflamed and narrowed as a result of a variety of factors, including an allergic tendency. Some of the early signs of asthma include coughing at night, coughing whilst exercising and a mild wheeze

  1. Heart failure

This is a weakening of the heart’s ability to pump blood. As the heart struggles to move blood round the body, fluid builds up in tissues. In the lungs, the cough reflex is triggered in an attempt to rid the body of unwanted fluid. The situation is made worse when lying down as this posture allows fluid to accumulate more easily in the lungs. Heart failure and heart disease are the main causes of persistent coughing at night in those over 65 years of age

  1. Sinusitis

The sinuses are small cavities lying within the cheekbone and forehead. Sinusitis is the condition which comes about when the lining of these cavities become infected and inflamed, giving rise to the main symptom of the feeling of a blocked nose. Mucus in the sinuses drains into the back of the nose and pharynx. When you lie down, excess mucus drips down into the back of your throat, irritates the tissues, triggering the dry cough at night reflex.

  1. Some blood pressure drugs

ACE inhibitors can trigger a dry cough that won’t quit for some people. Some medicines, particularly those for high blood pressure, can result in a dry cough. If your doctor finds that one of these problems is causing your cough, you’ll need to treat that specific condition to find relief. Talk to your doctor about the best plan.

  1. Lung problems and cancer

A persistent cough can also be a specific sign of lung problems, including lung cancer. For this case, it is important that you visit your doctor to confirm that it is cancer that causes a dry cough at night.

  1. Whooping cough

This is a bacterial disease caused by Bordetella pertussis characterized by bouts of coughing followed by gasping of air in a distinctive ‘whoop’ sound. It is not as common as it used to be

  1. TB – Tuberculosis

This is a highly infectious bacterial disease which primarily affects the lungs and results a dry cough at night as well. In the early stages, it gives rise to a persistent dry cough. TB was once thought to have become extinct throughout the World, but cases have increased recently because of a combination of drug resistance and lowered immune resistance.
Other causes of a dry cough include:

  • Psychological conditions – this is when coughing has become a habit. It is also sometimes referred to as a psychogenic cough. There is no physical illness behind the cough and often the person does not even realize he or she is coughing. A feature of this type of cough is that it goes away when one is asleep
  • Nerves and stress – many people cough when they are in a stressful situation. Breathing becomes shallow when you are anxious and this can trigger the cough reflex. Some people tend to be more anxious than others, and for them the ‘natural’ nervous cough can become a problem if they find themselves in uncomfortable situations. Often, the underlying problem will have to be addressed in order to cure the dry cough.

Home Remedies for Dry Cough at Night

If a dry cough has been denying you sleep all night long, it is a high time that you start thinking on ways to clear the problem. There are numerous ways you can find help to kick out that problem for good. You can visit you medical provider who will diagnose you find out what could have caused you that lingering dry cough all night. However, while you are at home, you may try some of these remedies as they can also relieve your condition as well.
Depending on what is causing you the cough, there are different remedies and lifestyle changes you can try to relieve or prevent nighttime coughing in both adults and children.

  1. Incline the head of your bed

As we have learned above, acid reflux will get you in the night if your sleeping mode is not the right one. Moreover, it is easier that way for irritants to make their way to your throat to trigger a dry cough at night when you’re lying down. Avoid this by propping up some pillows to raise your head.

  1. Use a humidifier

Dry, warm air can irritate your throat and airways. Some people also cough when they turn their heater on in the winter. This is due to the release of pollutants that built up in the heating ducts. A humidifier that produces a cool mist can help keep the air in your bedroom moist. This can keep your throat feeling better.

  1. Try honey

Honey and a hot drink can help loosen mucus in your throat. Mix two teaspoons of honey into a caffeine-free tea, such as herbal tea, to drink before bed. You should never give honey to children younger than 1 year, however.

  1. Tackle your GERD

Your sleeping position makes it easier for stomach acid to backflow into your esophagus. This condition is known as acid reflux. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic form of acid reflux and a common cause of nighttime coughing. But there are some lifestyle changes you can try to reduce a dry cough at night caused by GERD.
Also, avoid foods that trigger your GERD. Keep a food diary to help you figure out what these foods are if you’re not sure.

  1. Use air filters and allergy-proof your bedroom

When your immune system overreacts to an allergen, allergy symptoms such as coughing can occur. Dust allergy is a common cause of cough, especially at night when you’re exposed to dust mites or pet dander on your bedding.

  1. Prevent cockroaches

The saliva, feces, and body parts of cockroaches may cause dry cough at night and other allergy symptoms. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, cockroaches are a common cause of allergies and asthma attacks. Eliminate piles of newspapers and magazines that attract dust and give cockroaches places to hide. Also, use an exterminator to eliminate a severe cockroach infestation.

  1. Seek treatment for a sinus infection

Stuffed-up sinuses or a sinus infection may cause postnasal drip, especially when lying down. Postnasal drip tickles the back of your throat and leads to coughing. If nighttime coughing is caused by a medical condition such as a sinus infection, it’s important to get treatment. You may need a prescription from your doctor for antibiotics.

  1. Rest and take decongestants for a cold

Your coughs may be caused by the common cold. Your cough may worsen at night or when you lie down. Rest, chicken soup, fluids, and time are usually all it takes to beat a cold. Severe coughs due to a cold, however, may be treated with cough medication in adults and children older than 6 years. Decongestant sprays that help reduce postnasal drip may also be used in adults and children older than 6 years to reduce dry cough at night.

  1. Manage asthma

Asthma causes airways to become narrow and inflamed. A dry cough is a common symptom of asthma. You may need a prescription inhaler to treat asthma.

  1. Stop smoking

A chronic cough is a common side effect of long-term smoking. It’s not a quick fix, but if you’re a smoker, talks to your doctor about programs to help you kick the habit. Not only will your cough improve, your overall health will, too.

Home Remedies for Dry Cough for Kids

Medications carry a risk of serious side effects in this age group and may not be effective for young children. Fortunately, most coughs are caused by a virus and clear up on their own. If your child is suffering from a dry cough, there are some steps that you can take at home to nurse him back to health.

  • Give your child plenty of liquids to drink. These can moisturize and soothe a sore, scratchy throat.
  • Feed your child chicken soup that contains garlic. Research reveals that this combination carries antiviral properties, and your child may feel better faster.
  • Offer your child cough drops or lozenges, but only if she is over the age of three. Before that, cough drops pose a choking hazard. Lozenges containing zinc may shorten the duration of her illness. Those containing menthol or eucalyptus can help to relieve a dry cough at night.
  • Moisturize your child’s throat and nasal passages by putting her in a steamy bathroom or running a vaporizer. The moisture may calm down a dry, tickling throat and may reduce coughing.
  • Give your child a teaspoon of honey. This honey works as well as over-the-counter cough suppressants at easing a cough. Mix the honey in a mug of herbal tea or warm water.

Home Remedies for Cough and Cold

There are plenty of treatments for nighttime coughs that can help. Most of the time, home remedies or over-the-counter (OTC) treatments can work wonders. But if those don’t help, your doctor can prescribe a stronger cough medicine that includes something to make you drowsy.
How to calm dry cough at night
Start with simple solutions to see if they stop the hacking:

  • Use a humidifier to make the air moist, or breathe steam from a hot shower or tea kettle before bed.
  • Raise your head up a bit with an extra pillow.
  • Try a saline or saltwater nose spray.
  • Swallow a teaspoon of honey. (Note: This is not for babies younger than 1 year old.)
  • Sip warm tea or soup.
  • Suck on menthol or honey lozenges before bedtime.

How to Stop Coughing at Night without Medicine

A persistent cough may feel tempted to head to the pharmacy and pick up a cough suppressant medication. Cough suppressants contain ingredients to stop you from coughing but rarely treat the underlying cause. Cough medications are typically not recommended for children under 4 and can cause side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness and stomach upset. You can use natural remedies to get rid of your cough at home.

  • Run a hot shower with the door closed. Sit or stand in the steam-filled room to help you naturally remedy your dry cough at night. Expose yourself to steam for a minimum of 20 minutes.
  • Elevate your head when you sleep. Drain fluid away from your head by using an extra pillow or raising the headboard of your bed.
  • Run a cool mist humidifier in your room. Oftentimes, coughs are worse at night and can make sleep difficult. A cool mist humidifier that uses cold water to operate can break up congestion to relieve your cough. Add a couple drops of eucalyptus oil to the humidifier to help you breathe easier.
  • Drink a lot of water as we stated above.

Infected Belly Button Piercing: Signs, Causes, How to Heal

Also known as infected navel piercing, belly button piercing infection, pain and bumps are all a problem when it comes to navel piercing healing. This type of piercing can add charm to your belly button especially if you have a toned flat stomach attractive to be seen. However, if these piercings are not taken good care of, they can get infections which may make them take several months to heal. An infection does not happen only to new piercing, as many cases have been reported of infected belly piercings after 6 months or even after years of completely healing.

Infected Belly Button Piercing

Due to the location of the navel – a dark and damp place – infections can be common especially if your navel is very deep. According to research findings, the navel is the second most risky place to have a piercing after the eye as the navel piercing hole can be a gateway for infections reaching your abdominal cavities. They say that, since the ring will always touch the clothing, spread of micro-organisms can easily reach your abdominal parts.
Researchers also add that there are inherent risks of injuries, belly button piercing scars, keloid formation, piercing rejection, stretch from weight gain or pregnancy, among other minor discomforts.
The main causes of belly button infections on the piercing include bacteria and allergic reactions. However, fungi, yeast, and other pathogenic microorganism can also cause infections but in minimum levels. These pathogens will tend to thrive if you create a favorable environment such as:

  • not clean your piercing regularly,
  • touching it with dirty hands,
  • poor personal hygiene, injuries,
  • unsterilized piercing equipment,
  • wrong piercing jewelry (in terms of size or material that cause allergies)

Your belly button can take approximately 9 to 12 months for it to heal completely. For those with low body strength, it can go up to two years. After you have had a piercing, the first few weeks of the healing time should be of great care to the piercing to avoid getting an infection. Your piercer will provide you with aftercare routine which you should follow to the latter to keep yourself away from risks.

Belly Button Piercing Infection Causes

In most cases if you are to have an infection on your navel piercing, it will occur a few days after the piercing. You will start experiencing the symptoms a few days after the piercing. While fresh body piercings can be a source of discomfort even when they are still fresh, it does not mean they are infected. It is also important for you to know that even an old belly button piercing can get infections if good care is not observed.

  1. Contaminated piercing equipment

According to some research, a piercing done by a gun more often will cause harm to the customer. This is because these piercing equipment are known to be difficult to disinfect.

  1. Poor quality jewelry

The quality of the rings or studs you use on your belly button matters. Navel piercing jewelry, especially cheap and fake ones are a major cause of infections since they break easily and cause irritation on the skin. Some will cause allergic reactions. The risk of belly button piercing is higher if the area has not healed.

  1. Poor aftercare activities

This is one of the major causes of infections. It involves things like touching the wound with dirty hands, poor cleaning techniques and lack of ventilation which in turn result to an infection. Contaminating the area can only cause problems and diseases.

Infected Belly Button Piercing Bump

In the extreme point of infection you may end up developing a pimple or bump on your belly button piercing. This is an alarm that your condition requires immediate care response. You can visit your health care provider who can suggest the best treatment that will work well for your condition. When dealing with lumps that develop on your navel piecing, there are two types of bumps in this case;

  • Bump without infection – for example, granulomas is a bump that forms as a result of overgrown body tissue and may not be due to an infection
  • Bump with infection – When the bump resembles a pimple and contains a discharge, there is a reason to worry of an infection.

As we said earlier, formation of a bump on your pierced belly button is a common sign that it is infected. This condition usually takes place after the few initial weeks of the piercing. If no quick response is taken to ascertain the cause of the bump and treatment carried out, it may develop into a scar or keloid.
Research results shows that most people tend to get best and quick relief when the use some good home remedies such as tea tree oil followed by the warm saline water compresses.  Piercing solutions have also been found helpful in getting rid of belly button piercing infected bumps.
Moreover, if you follow various ways as outlined by the piercer on how to clean an infected belly button piercing, it can help in getting rid of the bump or bubble on it. There are those who prioritize on visiting their doctors. However, seeking medical attention may be the only option if the infection is not responding to aftercare treatments.

Symptoms of Infected Belly Button Piercing

There are many symptoms that will tell you that your belly button piercing is not in normal condition and this may include an abscess, pain, green pus, serious irritation and sometimes itchiness. The signs and symptoms of the infection may vary from person to person depending on the cause of it. The following are the common signs in details that show your belly button piercing is infected.

  1. Cyst or abscess with pus

A swollen pocket on your navel piercing that contains pus is an abscess. Any abscess that forms on your body is a clear indication that you have an infection. The swelling caused by an abscess may be accompanied by some shooting pain. Further symptoms may be witnessed as the cyst or abscess advances to cellulitis. If the cyst punctures, the abscess may discharge a clear liquid. In an advanced stage of infection, the color may change to grayish, then to yellowish pus and green pus.

  1. Discharge

You can have a discharge from your piercing even if it is not affected. A clear discharge immediately after the piercing is not from infection. For an infected navel, the discharge may be accompanied by some pain or change of color. While urachal cysts are the main cause of drainage from belly button, causes relating to your piercing may include thrush, yeast infections and bacterial infections. If you see a discharge of any color oozing from your navel, see a doctor immediately for treatment.

  1. Green pus

As I have said above, a clear fluid oozing slowly from the navel, especially with a new piercing, might be normal, as it is usually just lymph fluid. However, green pus discharged from the navel can mean an infection is in an advanced stage. A yellowish to greenish pus is likely to have a foul smell. Most people notice that their belly buttons smell like cheese or poop due to these infections.

  1. Bump or keloid

The bumps that result from infections may look like small pimples or a rash on your navel area. It is important that you get them treated fast. Fungal infections on a pierced belly button are common and may have signs such as rash or pimples. Keloids on the other hand may develop from the healing process. Keloids worsen if the area has an infection that won’t go away or keeps recurring. Keloids are likely to form closer to the navel piercing ring.

  1. Irritation, redness and swelling

Irritation and swelling is normal for new piercings. This should however not last for more than a week or two. Swelling and redness are signs of belly button infection, especially after healing. The irritation comes from the activity of bacteria on the skin. If your navel is swollen, apply a cold pack to relieve the swelling as you seek proper diagnosis and treatment.

  1. Pain, hurt or aches from navel piercing

Pain and discomfort are major signs of something having gone wrong. For fresh piercings, a little pain is normal, but for already healed navel piercings, hurting or throbbing aches are a sign of a developing infection. While a slight pull of the belly button ring can make it hurt, the pain should subside rather quickly instead of increasing in intensity.

  1. bubble, blood blister or red spots

A blood blister is a small pocket filled with blood. These usually form around the piercing hole. Red spots are not always due to infections on navel piercings. Mishandling of the ring can cause a bruise around the hole, causing a blood blister to form. You may also see red streaks and red spots. However, in some instances, red spots and blood blister bubbles can be a symptom of an early cyst or abscess forming.

  1. Itchy belly button piercing

Itching is one sign of either a fungal infection or an allergic reaction. While itching can be caused by foreign irritants such as belly button lint, contact dermatitis and bruising, if the piercing is still not healed yet it starts to itch, an infection is likely to have occurred.

Healing Belly Button Piercing

Although these piercings look great, the belly button healing process takes a long time. Within this duration, it is possible to experience a lot of events that could delay healing. To make sure that the belly button piercing healing is smooth, you need to pay attention to the aftercare procedures. Keep the piercing clean and avoid any trauma being exerted on it.
Healing belly button
To facilitate healing, it is important that you clean up the piercing thoroughly and regularly. Use a fragrance free mild soap to wash the piercing. Avoid cleansers that contain alcohol and dies as well. The navel piercing should also be given saline soak treatments twice each day. Once done with cleaning the area, it is advisable to use paper towels to pat the area dry. Avoid rubbing the wound with a towel as this could irritate the piercing. Also watch out if you are using a towel. It has to be sterilized to avoid transferring micro-organisms to the wound which could cause infections.

Belly Button Piercing Abscess

Swelling can occur in both a new or old piercing. In the initial stages of healing, redness, swelling and itchy feeling are normal. These tend to reduce with time. In case they do not subside or occur past this initial stage, this may suggest an infection. This should be monitored closely as persistent swelling that occurs along pus, redness around and hurts could be a sign of infection.
With old piercings, swellings could occur if the piercing is subjected to trauma and one side is scarred and hard as a result of formation of scar tissue. To get rid of the swelling and red coloration, apply ice on the piercing. Ensure it is wrapped up and apply it on and off for five minutes until you feel better. You could also try chamomile tea soaks to reduce irritation.

Rejected Belly Button Piercing

In doing a belly button piercing, there is always a chance that the piercing will migrate or will be rejected. This can be very frustrating, not to mention unsightly. Rejection happens when the body doesn’t accept the metal from the ring. The immune system will push out the body piercing and will heal the skin until the piercing no longer sticks. The piercing can migrate to another part of the abdomen. What increases the risk of piercing rejection and what can be done about it?
Symptoms of Belly Button Piercing Rejection
There are some signs you can look out for that can help you know if you are suffering from piercing rejection of belly button. Here are the signs:

  • The skin is getting so thin that you can see the ring just beneath the skin.
  • You have a great deal of skin sensitivity and a continual soreness in the area of the belly button.
  • The pierced holes become bigger in preparation for navel piercing rejection.
  • The ring or bar around your belly button hangs looser than it was when you first had it pierce.
  • There is drainage coming from the belly button holes.
  • You are developing a keloid scar in the area of the piercing.

Belly button piercing rejection can lead to a scar, which is the most worrisome sign. This is the last stage of a migration of the pierced ring out of the body. Because of the chance of scarring, you should take the ring out as soon as you realize your body is rejecting it. It doesn’t always happen as soon as you get the piercing and can take up to three years to reject the ring.
If you develop a very big scar, it can be difficult to get rid of and they fade very slowly. If the scar bothers you, you can seek the advice of a plastic surgeon or dermatologist who can help resolve the scar or lessen its appearance.

Step 3:
A straight or curved needle will be pushed through the skin (outside to inside). Once the necessary hole is made, the initial jewelry most preferably a barbell will be added to the piercing.
Step 4:

Lump in Ear Lobe Cancer

As we have stated above, be careful when dealing with lumps on your earlobe that can be cancerous. In numerous studies, it has been revealed that cancerous lumps and bumps are not usually painful. In some conditions it could be some kind of cyst that needs to be drained and treated with simple antibiotics. When draining is involved it could be some kind of infection going on which really needs checking out and could be treated.
If it is a big old infection going on there it would certainly give you a bad feeling. You need to get a diagnosis before you know what causes the lump in earlobe. It is not a matter of ethnicity – you need to get to the doctor and ask what is going on with your ear.
Sometimes when people get a lump that won’t go away; they just conclude it is cancer. It could be infections, or inflammations or all of that kind. However, if the lump keeps on progressing to the worse state you have to be careful with what you are dealing with. Put yourself on the safe side by letting your doctor have a look at it.

Lump in Earlobe near Piercing

Infection in body piercings is commonly caused by the transfer of microorganisms from dirty hands to the piercing site, according to research findings. Other contaminants that may cause infection come from contact with bodily fluids or unsanitary water. Developing a lump in earlobe is one of the major signs that your earlobe is infected. A part from that, your earlobe may also feel warm to the touch.
A lot of people may complain of bumps on their piercings few days or even many years after piercing was done. While proper care usually keeps these from forming, sometimes a piercing gets a bump with the best of care. Identifying the bump and treating it can reduce pain, and help your piercing heal faster.
The reasons behind getting a bump could be always different, from non – sterilized equipment to non-professional aftercare treatment. If you develop a bump at the site of a body piercing, draining it should never be done by yourself.
A lump in earlobe, especially if the site turns red, swollen or painful, or drains pus, could indicate a staphylococcus infection or other bacteria. See your doctor immediately; the doctor might choose to drain the bump and send the fluid for testing to determine the type of bacteria present. In the meantime, your doctor might start you on an oral antibiotic.
Any time you create a wound in the skin like a body piercing, you run the risk of developing an infection. The risk increases if the equipment used to create the opening isn’t scrupulously cleaned and sterilized between uses. Signs of an infection of a pierced ear are tenderness, a yellow discharge, redness, and some swelling.
The most common causes of infection are piercing the ears with unsterile equipment, inserting unsterile posts, or frequently touching the earlobes with dirty hands.

Lumps in Earlobe that come and go

Earlobe infections can cause lumps on your ear that comes and go away. Many types of infections cause the lymph nodes behind and below the ears near the jawbone to enlarge and feel like lumps. Traumatic causes of lumps range from bug bites to severe injuries that can produce localized collection of blood in the tissues.
Also, benign and malignant tumors of the skin, soft tissues, or organs can sometimes feel like lumps and they may appear for some time and disappear. In these cases, either a biopsy or surgical removal of the lump can determine whether cancer is present.
Cysts, which are fluid-filled, sac-like structures that can form in various parts of the body, often feel like a lump in earlobe. Some cysts may be present at birth, while others develop as a result of inflammation, tumors, or wear and tear over time. Sebaceous cysts are benign lumps filled with pus, dead skin cells, and excess oil.

Sebaceous Cyst Earlobe

It is usually normal to develop lumps in and around your earlobe called cysts. They are similar in appearance to pimples, but they are different. Some sebaceous cyst in your earlobe does not need treatment. If the cyst causes pain, or does not disappear, you should seek the help of a medical professional.
How to identify sebaceous cyst on earlobe
A sebaceous cyst is a sack-like lump in earlobe made of dead skin cells. Usually, it is small, smooth bump under the skin, similar to a blemish. It may vary in color from matching your skin pigmentation to red. Usually they are no bigger than the size of a pea. But you should watch them to see if they change in size.
A sebaceous cyst is almost always benign and should cause no problems other than being a minor cosmetic issue or small distraction. However, it can feel uncomfortable if your headphones rub against it.
What causes an earlobe sebaceous cyst?

  1. An epidermoid cyst occurs when epidermis cells that should have been shed get deeper into your skin and multiply. These cells form the walls of the cyst and secrete keratin, which fills up the cyst.
  2. Also, damaged hair follicles or oil glands can cause them. Cysts also often tend to run in families, or can form for no reason. They occur in most people at some point. However, they are generally no cause for concern.

How to Get Rid of Lump in Ear

Often, common lumps in your earlobe will resolve on their own but if they do not or start to become larger and more painful it is time to see your physician. If the lump in earlobe does not resolve on its own your physician can treat it with steroids in order to reduce the inflammation or remove it surgically using a small incision.
There are some lumps in earlobe that be removed with lasers. It is not uncommon for the lump in earlobe to come back in the same location even after having them surgically removed.
A reddened bump doesn’t always mean infection. In some cases, inflammation can develop at the site from irritation from the piercing rather than infection. With inflammation, the redness is usually localized, improves with time, doesn’t spread and doesn’t have a foul smell. Draining an inflamed bump won’t help at all, since it doesn’t contain infected material. Injecting the bump with cortisone often helps reduce inflammation, although you might need more than one treatment, depending on the size of the inflamed area.

How to stop Sneezing: Runny Nose, Causes, in the Morning, Cold, Allergies, Constant, Get Rid

Sneezing is described as a way your body remove irritants from your nose or throat. A sneeze is a powerful, involuntary expulsion of air from within. This usually happens suddenly and without warning. Another name for sneezing is sternutation. While this symptom can be quite annoying, it is not usually the result of any serious health condition. Here is an insight on how to stop sneezing.
One part of your nose’s job is to clean the air you breathe; making sure it is free from dirt and bacteria. In numerous conditions, your nose traps this dirt contained in the air and bacteria in mucus. Your stomach then digests the mucus, which neutralizes any potentially harmful invaders.
During your normal breathing dirt and debris can enter your nose and irritate the sensitive mucous membranes inside your nose and throat. When these membranes become irritated, it causes you to sneeze in order to get rid of the foreign debris.

  2. On the other hand, too much moisture in the air can bother the sinuses and cause sneezing. A dehumidifier or air purifier can help clear the air and help you stop sneezing. If you detect a musty scent in your, it could be a sign you have mold. There are many causes of mold so be sure to get your house checked. Sneezing can be triggered by a variety of things, including:

  1. Allergies

Allergies are an extremely common condition caused by your body’s response to foreign organisms. Under normal circumstances, your body’s immune system protects you from harmful invaders such as disease-causing bacteria. If you have allergies, your body’s immune system identifies typically harmless organisms as threats. Allergies can cause you to sneeze when your body tries to expel these organisms.
Most of the time, the reason behind your constant sneezing is some type of allergy. This usually happens when you are suffering from allergic rhinitis, which may affect you in specific seasons or hurt you all year round. Sometimes, you may also be allergic to specific foods, such as dairy.
Sneezing fits are the most common symptom that you have allergic rhinitis. You may experience bouts of sneezing after you wake up in the morning. Other common symptoms include runny nose, nasal congestion, itchy or watery eyes. This could also be due to seasonal rhinitis, which is characterized by frequent attacks of sneezing. If you’re a victim of perennial rhinitis, you’re more likely to experience symptoms when you inhale specific antigens, such as house dust mite, pet hair, and fungal spores.

  1. Infections

Infections caused by viruses such as the common cold and flu can also make you sneeze. There are more than 200 different viruses that can cause the common cold. However, most colds are the result of the rhinovirus.
Sneezing may well be a symptom of an upper respiratory tract infection, and it usually affects people with weakened immune system. You may also be a victim of viral infections, which cause infectious rhinitis. This usually happens due to rhinoviruses and adenoviruses. Your rhinitis may also be due to bacterial infections, but sneezing in this case is usually associated with sinusitis. Fungal infections are rare but possible, and lead to rhinitis and constant sneezing as these infections are more common in people with impaired immune system

  1. Nasal irritants

This may include things like dirt and debris that are contained in the air. Pollen as well can cause you to sneeze. At all times these foreign bodies are not required in your body, when they enter the nose, they irritate causing you to sneeze in order to get rid of them.
Systemic, airborne, or ingested irritants can lead to constant sneezing if you don’t do anything to limit your exposure to those irritants. Some of the most common triggers are organic and inorganic dusts, environmental pollution, spicy foods, perfumes, cigarette smoke, dry weather, stress, and hormonal changes.

  1. Corticosteroids in nasal spray

Nasal spray when used in excess, it may cause you some problems. It contains corticosteroids which when inhaled in excess they are harmful. Nasal spray is used to control stuffy nose or a runny nose. When you use it, make sure you do this in minimal.
Nasal sprays that have a corticosteroid in them reduce inflammation in your nasal passages and decrease the frequency of sneezing. People with allergies often use these sprays.

  1. drug withdrawal

This is common to people who have a history of allergy. They usually react to contents in certain drugs and you may find a person developing a rush, fever or even sneezing. In case you react to a certain drug, it is important that you talk to your doctor for better advice.
Using certain medications may also lead to drug-induced rhinitis and cause constant sneezing. Some of the culprits are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, nasal decongestants, beta-blockers, antidepressants, sedatives, drugs for erectile dysfunction, and oral contraceptives.

  1. Other Causes

You may also experience sneezing and other allergy related symptoms due to several other causes not mentioned above. This may include the following:

  • Nasal polyps

Home Remedies on How to Stop Sneezing

You can try a number of things at home to stop sneezing and control other symptoms. For instance:

  1. You may try fennel tea which has natural anti-viral and antibiotic properties; fennel can help clear upper respiratory infection and stop sneezing. Simply add a couple of teaspoons of crushed fennel seeds to a boiled cup of water and let them stay there for 15 minutes. Strain it and drink a couple of cups daily to stop sneezing. Be sure to boil the water before adding the seeds.
  2. Also try Chamomile tea which has antihistamine properties, so drinking a cup of chamomile tea will help stop sneezing caused by allergies. The ingredients such as thymol and carvacrol make oil of oregano a suitable choice to strengthen your immune system. Simply add a couple of drops of oil of oregano in a glass of juice and drink it once a day.

How to Prevent Constant Sneezing

You need to understand that it is going to take a few days to clear your symptoms if they are caused by the flu or another infection. To avoid dealing with the hassle caused by constant sneezing, you can take certain steps.

  • Move your outdoor workout to dusk.

Save outdoor exercise for the evening. Not only do many people with allergies experience more sneezing and itching in the morning, but many trees release their pollen at first light, and ragweed pollen tends to fly most thickly at midday—so stick to end-of-day strolls.

  • Change your clothes when you come home.

You already know to leave windows shut and to avoid spending time outdoors on windy, sunny, pollen-infested days, but don’t forget that you drag pollen into your home on your clothes and shoes even if you can’t see it. Toss soiled clothes in the hamper immediately; even better, jump in the shower.

  • Make sure your appliances have HEPA filters.

If you don’t have a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter in your vacuum cleaner, you may be making your symptoms worse by stirring up pollen that has settled on your floor and furniture. Using HEPA filters in your air conditioner or heating system can also help ease allergy symptoms. Some experts suggest placing a freestanding air purifier with a HEPA filter in a high-traffic area.

  • Change your car’s cabin air filter.

It is a good idea to do this yearly. Older filters can blast pollen into your face.

  • Take meds at night, not in the morning.

Hay fever symptoms such as runny nose, scratchy throat, and sneezing typically are at their worst in the morning. What helps for most people: taking medication at bedtime, says Richard Martin, MD, at National Jewish Health in Denver.

  • Know when to break out the drugs.

It’s time to try conventional medicine. If you have symptoms only occasionally, you’ll most likely need an over-the-counter antihistamine, a nasal decongestant spray, or both; if you suffer throughout the season, you may need to substitute or add a prescription steroid spray.

  1. Saline

Saline can be extremely helpful in thinning the mucous and helping to soothe the membranes. You can use a syringe, a neti pot, nasal spray or other nasal irrigation technique. Sounds gross, but it can seriously help.

  1. Stopper

If you just can’t stand the constant leaking, try balling up a couple of small pieces of tissue and gently placing them in the opening of your nostrils. That way they can absorb some of the mucus without your having to blow so much. Of course, this pro tip is recommended for use at home

Stuffy Nose Causes

Nasal congestion is a problem that is well – known and a good number of people in your surrounding could be suffering from it as we post now.  Nasal congestion may occur when the blood vessels inside the nose become inflamed and the nasal tissues swell up clogging the nostril. Excess mucus drainage may also be accompanied with this problem.
In a number of occasions, nasal congestion is a problem that will get you temporarily. So what causes that stuffed up nose feeling? Some of the following conditions can cause you a stuffy nose:

  1. Infection
    • Viral infections

Usually a common cold which is caused by a viral infection is one of the most common triggers of a stuffy nose. There are several viruses that can cause a cold, with the rhinovirus being the most common.
An average adult person can suffer a common cold two to three times per year if with a poor immune system. These viral infections are more often in childhood because immunity often strengthens with age. A cold is caused by one of many viruses, some of which are airborne, but most are transmitted through contact.
Once the virus is absorbed by the nose, it causes the body to release histamine, (a chemical which dramatically increases blood flow to the nose) which results to nasal tissue to swell. This inflames the nasal membranes causing it to be congested with blood and produce excessive amounts of mucus that block the nasal airway. Antihistamines and decongestants can help relieve the symptoms of a cold, but no medication has been proven to cure it yet. Otherwise, time is what is needed to get rid of the infection.

  • Bacterial infection

During a viral infection, the nose has poor resistance to bacteria, which is why infections of the nose and sinuses often will present itself after a cold. When the nasal mucus turns from clear to yellow or green, it usually a sign of bacterial infection taking place. In case you experience this, it is a good option that you go seeing your medical provider for examination and treatment.

  • Acute sinus infections

It produces nasal congestion and thick discharge. Pain may be felt in cheeks and upper teeth, between and behind the eyes, or above the eyes and in the forehead, depending on which sinuses are involved.

  • Chronic sinus infections

They may or may not cause pain, but usually are accompanied by nasal obstruction and offensive nasal or postnasal discharge. Some people develop polyps which appear as fleshy growths in the nose from sinus infections, and the infection can spread to the lower airways, leading to a chronic cough, bronchitis, or asthma. Usually, acute sinus infections generally respond to antibiotic treatment; chronic sinusitis may require surgery.

  1. Vasomotor Rhinitis

Rhinitis means inflammation of the nose and nasal membranes whereas Vasomotor means pertaining to the nerves that control the blood vessels. Membranes in the nose have an abundant supply of arteries, veins, and capillaries, which expand and constrict at their normal activities. Normally these blood vessels are in a half-open state. But when a person exercises vigorously, adrenaline levels goes up. This causes constriction of the nasal membranes so that the air passages open up and the person breathes freely.
The opposite takes place when an allergic attack or a cold develops. During a cold, blood vessels expand, membranes become congested, and the nose becomes stuffy, or blocked.

  1. Allergic rhinitis

This is a very common condition in human beings. According to research findings from great organizations, this is a condition that most of the Americans are affected from. Allergy is an exaggerated inflammatory response to a substance which, in the case of a stuffy nose, is usually pollen, mold, animal dander, or some element in house dust. Pollen may cause problems during spring, summer, and fall, whereas house dust allergies are often most evident in the winter.
Allergic rhinitis occurs when your body’s immune system overreacts with a substance that is usually not harmful. Common triggers of allergic rhinitis are pollen, dust, and pet dander. A part from a stuffy nose, other accompanied symptoms may include sneezing, a runny nose, and itchy eyes. It has not yet been proven why some people develop allergic rhinitis, but having a family history of allergies is one of the risk factors.

  1. Occupational rhinitis

It is almost similar to allergic rhinitis. It usually occurs when someone has a reaction to a substance in their work environment. Symptoms resulted from it may include stuffy nose, itchy eyes, and coughing. People who work in chemicals, wood dust, and grain areas may be at an increased risk of developing this condition.

  1. Pregnancy rhinitis

Pregnancy is usually accompanied by numerous complications on a woman’s body, and that can include the nose. During pregnancy, hormones including progesterone and estrogen go above the normal rate. The rise in these hormones along with increased blood flow can cause swelling of the mucous membranes inside the nose. This is usually visible with stuffy nose and sneezing.
Pregnancy rhinitis can occur at any time during pregnancy period. Symptoms will go away a short time after delivery.

  1. Atrophic rhinitis

It may present itself when there is thinning and hardening of the mucous membranes inside the nose. The thinning tissues make it easier for bacteria to grow and cause an infection in the nose. Crusts also appear as a result of this condition in your nose. This problem is most common in people who have had multiple nose surgeries.

  1. Structural abnormalities
    • Deformed nasal septum and nose

The thin, flat cartilage and bone that divides the two sides of the nose and nostrils can as well result to this problem. These deformities are usually the result of an injury, which may have sometimes occurred in someone’s childhood.  Research has it that 7% of newborn babies suffer significant nasal injury in the birth process. Nasal injuries may occur in both children and adults. If they obstruct breathing, surgical correction may be done to correct the problem.

  • Enlarged adenoids

This is one of the most common known causes of nasal obstruction in children. Adenoid is a tonsil-like tissue which is located in the back of the nose, behind the palate. Children with this problem may experience noisy breathing at night and they are often heard snoring when they sleep. Children who are chronic mouth breathers may develop a sagging face and dental deformities as research has revealed. In this case, surgery can be done to remove the adenoids and/or tonsils.

  • Nasal tumors and foreign bodies

These may be other causes of stuffy nose in this category. Children are usually involved with inserting small objects into their noses. If a foul-smelling discharge is observed draining from a child’s nostril, you should contact a doctor immediately for help.
In the early stages of these disorders, nasal stuffiness is temporary and can be reversed. It usually improves when the primary cause of the problem is corrected.

How to Get Rid of a Stuffy Nose Instantly

This problem can be uncomfortable; however it is nothing to worry about in most cases. There may be times when it is important that you see a doctor in this case, especially if symptoms don’t seem to be going away. The amount of time it takes for symptoms to improve may depend on the cause but most people recover from a cold in about 10 days.
Here are ways to get rid of nasal congestion instantly

  1. Hot shower

Take a hot shower before bed, or sit in the bathroom with the hot shower running, as the steam will help open up your sinuses. This will also help drain the mucus so you can breathe easier through your nose.

  1. Take a hot soup

You may take a hot chicken soup making sure that you don’t burn your mouth. Some studies have found that a hot soup contains a compound that can reduce swelling and help relieve cold and flu symptoms.

  1. Take some herbal tea

This can soothe a sore throat and loosen the gunk in your nose and lungs. Researchers at Cardiff University found that sipping hot drinks can give quick relief from runny nose, cough, and sneezing. When someone is sick, the body needs more fluid to fight off the infection. But avoid caffeine and alcohol as both can dry you out and zap the energy you need to feel better.

  1. Try a Nasal Rinse

This can be acquired from your local drugstore. It comes in a squeeze bottle. Or you can buy a neti pot kit, which looks like a little teapot. Both have a spout that goes into the nostril to rinse out mucus. This will help flush out mucus so you feel less stuffed up.
You can also make your own nasal rinse at your home. Just mix 3 teaspoons of iodide-free salt and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a container. Scoop 1 teaspoon of the powder into 1 cup of lukewarm, distilled water and stir it until it is fine. This can still help.

How to Sleep with a Stuffy Nose

When you have a stuffy, runny nose, and sore throat, all you want to do is have a sleep. But that cannot happen if you can’t breathe well.  However, if the condition persists, your blood vessels will lose their capacity to constrict, much like varicose veins. When you lie down on one side, the lower side becomes congested, which interferes with your sleep. It is helpful to sleep with the head of the bed elevated two to four inches to get some sleep.

  • Also, raise your head. This is one of the best things you can do to get some sleep fast. Keeping your head elevated promotes your sinus drainage. You can add to your head an extra pillow, as your sinuses will stay clear and you won’t wake up in the middle of the night because of difficulty in breathing.
  • Running the heater in winter dries out the air hence the air that enters your nose is kept dry. If you breathe through your mouth, you may wake up with a sore, scratchy throat.
  • Also you can use a humidifier. You will breathe easier and sleep better. It might also help keep you in a better condition: A 2013 study found that raising humidity levels above 40% helped to lower the risk of people getting a cold flu.

How to get rid of a Blocked Nose in bed

Stuffed up nose may give you problems especially when you are in your bed. Regardless of the reason for your stuffed-up nose, there are easy ways to relieve it at the comfort of your bed. Here are some of the things you can do now to feel and breathe better.

  1. Use a humidifier

It provides a quick, easy way to reduce sinus pain and relieve a stuffy nose. The machine converts water to moisture that slowly fills the air, increasing the humidity in a room. Breathing in this moist air can soothe irritated tissues and swollen blood vessels in your nose and sinuses. Humidifiers also thin the mucus in your sinuses. This can help empty the fluids in your nose and return your breathing to normal. Put a humidifier in your room before sleeping to ease the inflammation causing your congestion.

  1. Use a saline spray

Take hydration one step further with saline, a saltwater solution. Using a nasal saline spray can increase the moisture in your nostrils. The spray helps thin the mucus in your nasal passages. This decreases the inflammation of your blood vessels and helps empty fluids from your nose. Numerous saline sprays are available over the counter.
Some saline sprays also include decongestant medication. Talk to your doctor before you begin using saline sprays with decongestants. They may actually make your congestion worse if used for more than three days. They can also cause side effects when used along with other medications.

How to Drain your Nose

Your nose is either plugged or like a leaky faucet, and your head feels like it as the opposite of the truth. It feels better to keep your eyes closed because they are always puffy and sore.
Sinus problems can be uncomfortable. However, there are effective way to drain your nose to alleviate the pain and discomfort of sinus issues.
How to drain your sinuses
It is not the most glamorous task, but you can flush your clogged nostrils with a neti pot. A neti pot is a container designed to flush mucus and fluids out of your nasal passages. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommend that you use distilled or sterile water instead of tap water.
Here is how to use a neti pot:

  • Stand with your head over a sink.
  • Place the spout of the neti pot in one nostril.
  • Tilt the neti pot until water enters your nasal passage.
  • Once the water flows into your nostril, it will come out through your other nostril and empty into the sink.
  • Do this for about one minute, and then switch sides.

How to Stop a Stuffy Nose

From chicken soup to neti pots to over-the-counter (OTC) medications, there are all sorts of ways to help you on how to get rid of stuffy nose. You may consult your doctor for treatment if you have been congested for more than 2 weeks. If not, use these tips to breathe easier.

  1. Nasal Wash

Rinse the inside of your nose with a nasal irrigation kit or neti poti as mentioned above to soften, loosen, and wash out mucus and instantly relieve your stuffy nose. It can be acquired at your local drugstore. While you’re there, pick up some saline solution.
You will want to irrigate your sinuses while standing over a sink or basin to capture the liquid. Pour, spray, or squirt a liberal amount of the solution into one nostril while tilting your head so it flows out the other nostril. Do this with each nostril. It also flushes away bacteria and irritants.

  1. hydrated your self

Drink fluids and run a humidifier or vaporizer. Fluids and humidification help to thin mucous and drain your sinuses. They also lubricate your sinuses and keep your skin hydrated.

  1. Steam

Steam helps relieve congestion by loosening mucus. Give yourself a steam treatment using a bowl of hot water and a large towel. Add menthol, camphor, or eucalyptus oils to the water, if you like. Place the towel over your head so it falls along the sides of the bowl, trapping the steam inside. Most people do this until the steam dissipates. The steam from a hot shower can also work but is a less concentrated experience.

  1. Chicken soup

It’s not an old wives’ tale. A number of studies support the benefits of chicken soup in helping ease congestion. One 2000 study found that chicken soup reduces inflammation associated with sinus congestion and colds.
So what’s the secret? Scientists haven’t identified the active ingredient in chicken soup, but they speculate that the steam combined with the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of the soup’s ingredients are what help clear the sinuses.

  1. Warm and cold compresses

Rotating warm and cold compresses on your sinuses should also help.

  • Lay back with a warm compress draped across your nose, cheeks, and forehead for three minutes.
  • Remove the warm compress and replace it with a cold compress for 30 seconds.
  • Do this two to three times.

You can repeat this process two to six times each day.
Decongestants
Over-the-counter decongestants can shrink these vessels and help you breathe easier. Check the label for the ingredients phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine. Decongestant nasal sprays work the same way. But be careful! Your nose can get even stuffier if you use them for more than 4 or 5 days in a row. Sometimes these products can make you nervous or irritable.
Peppermint
Peppermint and its main active ingredient, menthol, are natural decongestants and may even thin out the gunk in your chest. You’ll find them in many chest rubs and cough drops. You can also drink peppermint tea. Buy it from the store, or make your own: Steep 1 teaspoon of dried peppermint in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Drink a cup up to five times a day.
